ABOUT
MISSION
Artists live for their passion, and finances are secondary. You are trained to be on unemployment benefits as an artist, as you often have to create your own jobs. Few people can make a living solely from what they are trained for. So the driving force is greater than an economic foundation. It is there
many business people who profit from and can pressure the artist financially, since the artist has to spend money to appease his art. Artists today seek support from the state or foundations to finance their projects. Far from everyone gets support, which makes sense in relation to how much money the state and the funds have. But with Nordic Art Lab, artists have an opportunity to get their dreams financed directly.
At present, it is state-employed professionals who decide who is to be supported. That is, what kind of art Danes can see in the future. They want you to be original, but I think much of the film art that is supported resembles each other.
VISION
Art for art's sake.
I want to make sure that all artists have the same opportunity to be supported, as the project is more important than who produces it. I want to help make it possible for new artists to be seen and contribute to enriching the world with their art.
I would like to contribute to us in Denmark, in the Nordic countries and in the world getting more art that does not need to be state-funded.
VALUE
The urge to create is in our DNA. Children the world over create by instinct. We as humanity need the arts to maintain our mental health, which is being under-prioritized by many. But awareness of mental health is generating momentum, and I think we all need to support that.
In the medium of art, one can express one's ideas and parts of knowledge. It gives us an opportunity to communicate the indescribable.
"If I could say it in words there would be no reason to paint."
~Edward Hopper
Art is a history lesson, the sound of history, cultural preservation and autobiography all in one. Art documents events and experiences that give us a richer understanding of history. Art reflects cultural values, beliefs and identity and helps preserve the diverse communities that make up our world. Art tells about our own lives and experiences through time.
"You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have."
~ Maya Angelou
Art is important in the creation of social relations, and therefore it requires that there are fair rules of the game for everyone.
The value is that artists can make a living from what they were created for, and hopefully the newly created art will be able to inspire and help improve mental health in society.
